Description
In 1971 CORA Services, Inc. was established as a small community counseling center for children and families focused on early intervention and prevention. Located in Northeast Philadelphia, CORA started with a small federal grant and targeted children and families by providing the child with psychological and educational support and involving the family to help the young person develop. The agency's original goal was to reach 300 children. By the end of its first year, CORA had exceeded that goal by double and saw 600 children, demonstrating the need for early intervention and prevention services. Two years later, legislation was introduced in Pennsylvania Legislature providing the agency with firmer funding and expanding auxiliary devices to non-public schools.
