Cornelius Police Department

Description

In an attempt to combat the illegal distribution of narcotics throughout the Town, the Cornelius Police Department launched an extensive undercover campaign utilizing officers from surrounding agencies to purchase narcotics from street-level drug dealers. This operation concluded with the indictment and subsequent arrest of nine persons for drug related charges. In January of 2008, the Cornelius Police Department, acting on complaints from citizens and other forms of gathered intelligence, began an undercover campaign to target street-level drug dealers. To address any prosecutorial challenges that may be faced, we conferred with the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Office to enhance our ability to receive convictions on any suspects. We then began contacting surrounding agencies to arrange for undercover officers to assist us in this operation. The operation began immediately and concluded in August of 2008.
