Cornerstone Community School

In all, Cornerstone Schools employ twelve full-time teachers, four part-time teachers, two principals, a director of development and two administrative assistants. Below are the staff bios.Principal LaToya Walker, our principal at CCS, came to Cornerstone from DC Public Schools where she worked in Central Administration and as a classroom teacher. She also taught a combined 3/4 class at Cornerstone. She holds a B.A. in Sociology from the college of William and Mary and a M. A. in Education from Regent University. Her strengths include academic leadership, integrating technology and strategic planning. She has volunteered for several years in youth ministry and has also worked in business administration. Her passion for raising up children who are strong in faith, character and knowledge make her a great fit for Cornerstone.Cynthia Byler teaches Kindergarten at Cornerstone Community School. She came to us after teaching for eight years at a Christian school in Maryland. She also taught in several other schools, including a school in Taiwan. Mrs. Byler holds a BA in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Bluffton College. Mrs. Byler leads a "developmental" kindergarten classroom where children of all abilities can develop appropriate social skills, academic readiness skills, and receive instruction at the level they need. She is a master teacher who effectively assesses, instructs, and evaluates students so they can reach their full potential in Christ.
