I love it when my life is flowing smoothly, like a placid stream. I know I am getting old and mellow, when I am content to have life be neither too exciting or too unsettled. When us old timers in Corvette Atlanta talk of the good old days, I remember what an exciting time it was. Then I also remind myself of all the major set backs in my life and times I started over with another new Corvette and possible another new wife. Wow, I love my life with Nancy and am thrilled I only have a new-to-me, used Corvette to bring me excitement. My life is very good these days. I stopped by Jim Ellis yesterday and watched David Fulcher reassemble my Magnason Supercharger. The old one had a bearing go bad and so I had David remove the top portion of the supercharger, shipped it back to the manufacturer, Magnason Products. They shipped back a either new or reconditioned unit, which does have a one year warranty. I got to see the inner workings of a very fine piece of machinery, as David put it all back together. Hopefully, by the time all read this article, Nancy will have her Corvette back and we will be happy, again. It is such a relief to be able to trust Dave Fulcher to do "the right thing" with our Corvettes. As an owner of a high priced, complicated automobile, we are at the mercy of the Corvette techs these days. Those who came to shop day a couple of weeks ago listened to Ed Clark tell his tale of woe, with his almost brand new Grand Sport leaking fluid (transmission, I think), while the then new car was sitting at the National Corvette Museum, awaiting the special delivery ceremony. We also got to hear the tale of woe from David Adcock with his brand, brand new Corvette( less than 500 miles) which was already showing a check engine light. These are not the type of quality control we expect for the high dollars it takes to get a new Corvette. The good news is that through our relationship with Mark Frost, Jim Ellis Chevrolet and David Fulcher, plus, the organizational skills of Dan Nugent, you can take your car to shop day and get this sort of stuff fixed. The Adcocks got to leave the dealership a lot happier than when they arrived. Dave Fulcher knew what was causing the check engine light and had a quick fix. He helped numerous others with problems or just routine maintenance, but there he was, on a Saturday morning, sharing his time and skill with Corvette Atlanta members. What a wonderful benefit for our club. I just came to shop day to have fellowship with my friends, and still went home happy, and glad I am a member of Corvette Atlanta. My car will get fixed this week. I can't say enough good about the fact that newer members, Frank and Deve Boduch, hosted a wonderful cook out at their lovely home on Lake Lanier. They didn't have to be begged by VP Michael Campsmith, they volunteered to host the event. Nancy and I had to attend in the Cadihog, but we still arrived with those in Corvettes. There was the newest version of Corvette, with Ed and Ann Clark arriving in their new Grand Sport. There was the older and most classic Corvette, with Dan and Carolyn Nugent arriving in Dan's restored '63 Split Window Coupe.
