In 1992, COSS Systems Inc. began its operations. At that time, the owners of the software firm Manx brought in new partners with the goal to create premium manufacturing software for smaller and mid-sized manufacturers. The new firm was called COSS Systems. COSS was selected because it was easy to say and remember, and also because it captured the principles of the owners who created the business. It was modern and clean just like the software; it was short and crisp and therefore rolled off the tongue in a strong, firm manner; and it could easily transport between all markets, without losing its meaning. As a small start-up firm, people and funds were invested in the software. The initial group of customers and users provided input on necessary features and functions, and acted as anchor references, speaking about the strong bond they formed with their software supplier. This has remained important to COSS as the company continues to develop - maintaining relationships with all customers, and developing the software with their needs being the foremost priority. Over time, the business and the name COSS gained recognition in the marketplace and the company created the logo you see today. Focused on a stylized "C", which wraps around a golden orb, the logo reinforces the messages in the word COSS.
