Description
Dave began his career after graduating with honors from the NCSU School of Design in 1990 with a degree in Industrial Design. From there, he quickly went on to form his own company, Point Concepts Designs, Inc. with his friend Dan Schwab. After 14 years of running this successful exhibit design company with his partner, Dave felt a need to fulfill some personal goals of his own and sold his share in the company. Dave went on to receive his General Contractors’ License, and began renovating properties. In his search for a material that offered more options and benefits, he stumbled upon concrete and was stunned: concrete is among the most versatile, lasting and environmentally–friendly materials available. Through that process, Dave became acutely aware of the need for fresh, new choices in countertop surfaces that provided an architectural element. Finding his calling, Dave was trained at the Concrete Countertop Institute of Raleigh and is a member of Concrete Connections and the Concrete Network.
Concrete can also be used in vertical applications such as backsplashes, shower surrounds, tile, wall panels, furniture bases and more. Generally, the concrete is 3/4" thick for these applications. Integral vessel sinks are also possible. Concrete countertops can be used both indoors and outdoors. Q: Will my concrete countertop or other concrete applications change as they age? A: Depending on what sealer is used will determine how the concrete will "patina" over time. Q: I’d like a unique, custom–designed concrete design, but don’t know exactly what I want.
