I am John Porhamer, President of Cowtown Insurance Service, Inc. Although I was born and raised in Arkansas, I have been a resident of Fort Worth, Texas for the past 36 years. After graduating from college with a BS in mathematics, I served in the Air Force for 4 years. In 1972, I was assigned to Carswell AFB, which is probably the best thing that ever happened to me. While stationed here, I met my wife, the former Ann Roach, a TCU graduate. We were married at Robert Carr Chapel on the TCU campus in 1974. As my wife said, it was the marriage of a HOG and a FROG! After separating from the Air Force in 1975, I entered the insurance business. I focused most of my attention on life insurance for the first 20 years or so. After qualifying for several trips to Hawaii and Florida, in 1995 I changed my focus more to health insurance . Since then I have enjoyed marketing and serving the Fort Worth Metroplex area with group and individual health insurance products. All of the years of living in Cowtown must have had an effect on me, because several years ago I started wearing a Stetson everywhere I go. You can usually spot me at any Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce event, because I always have on my western hat. I changed the name of my business to Cowtown Insurance Service in 2000 and incorporated in 2003. I have also been a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) since 1978. I feel very fortunate to be living in Fort Worth. Our economy is boom ...
