Founded in 1965, Craven Community College is part of the North Carolina Community College System. With campuses in New Bern and Havelock-Cherry Point, Craven serves about 3,200 curriculum students and more than 10,000 continuing education students each year. The college offers a wide range of associate degree and certificate programs, as well as college transfer courses, career and occupational offerings, partnerships with four-year universities, specialized workforce training options, developmental studies and basic skills classes.

The College is growing to meet the needs of its community. In 2008, the College opened a new 35,000-square-foot building at the New Bern Campus to accommodate Craven’s array of business and computer information technology programs. The same year, Craven dedicated the new Bosch and Siemens Advanced Manufacturing Center on the New Bern Campus, which provides state-of-the-art training in manufacturing methods and processes to support BSH Home Appliances Corp. and other industrial employers.

The NBWC is a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (an international women’s organization) and is dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. The club was established in 1905 and one of its missions is to support educational opportunities for women within the community.

– Workforce Development promotes lifelong learning by offering a wide range of programs and services. Workforce Development provides courses which upgrade the occupational skills and knowledge of individuals at all levels of labor and management, offers services to small businesses, and provides programs to meet the training needs of new and expanding industries.
