In 1886 Jack Crawford founded the J.W. Crawford Company, with offices located at what is presently home to The Cassius Billiard Room at 318 S. Third Street, across from the U.S. Courthouse in downtown Minneapolis. In addition to remodeling downtown office buildings, restaurants and warehouses, Crawford's more significant client was the Gamble Skogmo Co.
