Description

Heather is a Virginia Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the Greater Washington Society of Clinical Social Workers. She received her Master's in Social Work from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. She provides outpatient therapy to individuals and couples using a strength-based systems approach. She works with clients to create measurable improvements in dealing with issues of depression, anxiety, grief, and relationship problems. Heather is a practical, interactive, solution-focused therapist. She provides support, insight and feedback to help clients resolve current problems and long-standing patterns. Heather has over 14 years of experience working in outpatient psychotherapy. Her private practice experience includes resolving issues of grief/loss, anxiety, adjustment, trauma, body image, depression, relationship discord and parenting. She has extensive couples counseling training in the areas of improving communication skills, strengthening intimacy, and connecting through the various stages of a relationship. Heather currently provides regular presentations to local mother's support groups on parenting and marital issues. She has provided services to non-profit agencies, supporting women's health and family planning issues, as well as independent housing support for people with AIDS.
