Crisis Support Services (CSS) began as a nonprofit, volunteer-based crisis intervention and suicide prevention agency in 1966. Since then, CSS has grown to provide a variety of mental health services to a wide range of persons in varying degrees of crisis. Our primary mission is to assist people in emotional distress, to offer supportive counseling to those in crisis and to prevent suicide. CSS has been a training agency for students for over 40 years.
Description Since 1982 Crisis Support Services (CSS) has provided low fee counseling to bereaved members of the community. CSS plays a vital role in responding to traumatic events and post-disaster-services throughout the community. Losing someone important to us is one of the most confusing and frightening experiences we ever have to face. Our goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment for people who are grieving the death of a significant other. We appreciate how difficult it may be for you to come in and talk to us during this time of loss.
Description Crisis Support Services of Alameda County has been providing culturally competent mental health services for over 40 years. Our expertise is in dealing with people in crisis and people suffering from chronic mental illness. CSS has the capacity to create and support “special projects” programming designed to meet unexpected and emergent needs in our community and across the state. Our NightWatch ® program contracts afterhours crisis intervention telephone counseling services to mental health agencies that are required to provide 24/7 services.
Description The Senior In-Home Counseling Program was founded in 1993 with a small grant from the Area Agency on Aging. Since then, the program has grown to provide seniors with a wide array of counseling and mental health services. In 2005, the program was expanded to accomadate older adults who are able to be seen in our north Oakland office. Services include individual, couples and family counseling. In addition we offer a number of support groups designed to address the unique challenges of aging.
Crisis Support Services of Alameda County has provided comprehensive suicide prevention and intervention services in our community for over 40 years. Our Community Education Program aims to foster connectedness between individuals in crisis and those in position of helping.
