Description
We envision a free and sovereign Cuba whose citizens enjoy the fundamental individual liberties traditional in the Western liberal ideal, where the Cuban people can exercise their legitimate rights to self-determination through direct and universal suffrage and where a rule of law guarantees equal justice for all and holds public officials accountable. We envision a free nation where a healthy debate of ideas can thrive in an open atmosphere of tolerance and respect; where a vibrant civil society can flourish within a plurality of views and where free markets provide all citizens with the opportunity to exercise their economic rights in order to lead productive lives and contribute to the greater prosperity of the nation within a climate of social justice and ethical commercial activity. In this Cuba, the Cuban-American community in the United States would be a strategic partner to Cubans on the island, supporting a transition process; promoting Cuba's welfare and advocating a relationship between both countries based on mutual respect, independence, and shared values.
