MT. KISCO, NY, Sept. 7, 2010 — It is with great sadness that Curtis Instruments announces the passing of its founder, president and chairman emeritus, Edward M. Marwell. Mr. Marwell was an international business leader and global exporter, who served as president of Curtis Instruments from 1960 – 2001, and as chairman until 2003. During his tenure, the company grew into a key supplier of instrumentation, controls and integrated systems to the global electric-vehicle market with representation in all major world markets through 13 subsidiaries and 1,000 employees. The Curtis CA company was founded as Curtis PMC in 1985, and was initially located in Dublin, CA. Curtis CA is one of the world’s largest controller technical centers and is a highly specialized engineering facility focused on the design and development of advanced motor speed controllers for electric vehicles of all types. In 2000, the division became Curtis CA and moved to the present location. Curtis CA is ISO 9001-2000 certified and employs 65 people, predominately engineers and technicians.
