Description

Green and Sons Agency, founded in 1962, grew rapidly in the late seventies by focusing on retail accounts. With a background in finance, Kent Green saw that to adequately manage a high volume of small balance accounts, he needed a better way to monitor the card system used by collection agencies of the time.In 1979, the micro computer offered a low cost vehicle for monitoring collection activity. In 1980, "The Sting" "card moveless" system was born. Programmed to make efficient use of limited machine memory and storage, it gave Green and Sons Agency (GSA) a significant edge. Although designed for internal use, 50 sites were installed across the USA. By late 1982, "The Sting" had evolved into a fully "cardless" system. News about it spread. Requests for the "cardless" system snowballed.Whereas the collection business was a highly profitable, challenging enterprise, and the focus of Kent's creative and administrative talents, DAKCS was founded as a technical entity to prepare "The Sting" for resale. During the early years, the company operated largely as an association for networking and exchanging ideas between peer agencies nationwide. "The Sting" evolved to meet the needs of Green and Sons, as well as member agencies. As the installed base grew, and as the expectation for services mounted, the DAKCS organization also grew to meet this demand.
