Tony has a M.S. in Geography and is a certified Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) with over 20 years experience in collecting, analyzing and presenting spatial and non-spatial data using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, CAD, GPS, and various other digital techniques. We have been working with the Gallatin Valley Land Trust ( GVLT ) on a number of mapping projects. The first was the folding parks and trails map that can be found in shops all over Bozeman. This project expanded on the previous map by adding detailed information about amenities and travel distances. The map also illustrates land parcels under conservation easement. The second mapping project is a redesign of the kiosk displays found at trailheads around the valley. We are working with Molly Stratton Design to bring a new look to these wayfinding displays .

It’s not very often that we get to work on a project that is as collaborative, technically challenging, and high-visibility as this one. In 2011 DTM started working with the Gallatin Valley Land Trust in Bozeman to revamp their pocket-sized parks and trails map . The goal was to combine the locations of trails, parks, playgrounds, landmarks, and conservation easements with a road map that could be used by locals and visitors alike. That map came out this past Spring. GVLT then wanted to revamp the information kiosks they have installed around town.

A Geographic Information System (GIS) consists of the hardware, software, and people needed to collect, store, and maintain spatial data. A GIS can take the form of a small, tidy system stored on the desktop, or it can be a complex infrastructure that resides on a centralized server or in the Cloud. Whatever the size, your GIS must allow for efficient storage, retrieval, and updating of geographic information, and it must grow to meet your needs. We use a variety of both commercial and open-source GIS and database technology options to build GIS from the ground up.
