Although the brothers are duplicates of each other, they take great pride in the fact in over 16 years in the home building business, they have never duplicated a house. In their building portfolio of completed homes, there simply are no two houses alike. "We are not tract house builders," the Dauns echo each other. "We are custom home builders, and we are genuinely concerned with providing our customers with quality designed homes and noteworthy craftsmanship." Indeed, quality is the key word for the success of the Wisconsin entrepreneurship, and in 1991 the company incorporated. In 1982, following a slump in the construction trade, the twins chose to form a partnership. "We worked seven days a week and long, never ending hours each day...we never took vacations," according to Doug. Hard work and determination did pay off, and today 22 years later, their company, D & D Carpentry, Inc., has over 100 new homes to its credit, 11 full-time carpenters and 4 full-time masons on it's payroll, which increases at times when the workload deems it necessary. "Our carpenters and masons are competent, friendly and relate well with our customers." They have been fortunate in hiring artisans who possess strong work ethics and values important to customers, such as honesty. "Our men make our business what it is," says the brothers.
