D & P Communications, Incorporated, (D&P) originally started as just a telephone company, the Deerfield Farmers' Telephone Company (DFTC). DFTC was organized in 1898 to offer telephone services to the Deerfield and Petersburg area. Deerfield Farmers' Telephone Company was Incorporated in 1908, at that time if someone subscribed to phone service from DFTC they were given one share of stock in the company. DFTC provides local exchange service and access to the public switched telephone network.
