Today Blue Ox products account for the vast majority of our revenue; however, our company traces its roots to the Automatic Curry and Dipping Machine founded in 1926 by Rollie McQuistan. The successor, Automatic Equipment Manufacturing Co. (our corporate name) was started shortly after WW II by Myron Hesse who incorporated the company in November of 1968. During the first six decades of operation, "Automatic" produced only agricultural products.

Draw-Tite has been the leader in custom built trailer hitches for over 60 years for every vehicle make and model. Draw-Tite was started in 1946 by Bill Whichello, an inventor. Bill’s first product was a clothes line tightener. He called it a Draw-Tite. Unfortunately, that was about the time residential clothes dryers became popular and there wasn’t much call for the original Draw-Tite. Fortunately, Bill was also an avid RV’er. He built a trailer hitch for his car and, since he already had the name copyrighted, he called it a Draw-Tite.
