Description
Member at Large - I come to the DFO as a musician who especially enjoys playing for dancers. I had the opportunity to play for Scottish dancers as a highland bagpiper for a decade with the Adirondack Pipes and Drums in Glens Falls and when I switched to uilleann bagpipes I had the chance to enjoy playing for contra dances. Since 2008 I have played for local contra dances and at the Flurry with a variety of groups including McNamara's Band, the Capital District Megaband, and the Grafton Street Trio.
The DanceFlurry Organization is a community of local dancers, callers and musicians dedicated to supporting traditional dance and music in the Capital-Saratoga region.
Jacqueline Schwab is a folk and classical improvisational pianist who plays "gorgeously spare piano" (The Boston Globe) yet "sounds as if she has an orchestra at her fingertips" (Sing Out). Chosen by the renowned Ken Burns for numerous public television documentaries due to the emotional expression in her playing, Jacqueline has performed on the soundtracks for the Grammy award-winning Civil War, the Emmy award-winning Baseball and Mark Twain, among others.
