DatumPoint Introduces the RADICATOR, An Inserted Carbide Back Draft Style Milling Cutter TROY, MICHIGAN – Datum Point Tool, Incorporated of Troy, Michigan, introduces the RadicatorTM, an inserted carbide back draft milling cutter. The patent-pending design of the new Radicator insert has moved the actual cutting edges closer to the center compared to competitive designs, allowing a much freer cut. The massive size of the insert promotes improved heat dissipation. Applications include semi-rough, semi-finish and profile milling, along with a variety of other uses. The 1" diameter tool holder is available in six-, eight-, ten- and twelve-inch lengths. Two types of inserts are offered including a double-sided version for profile work or tapered walls. A single-sided insert can be used for cutting straight walls. The new Radicator inserts are offered with corner radii of 1/32, 1/16, 3/32, 1/8, 5/32, 3/16, 7/32 and 1/4. All inserts - both TIALN coated or uncoated - are conveniently available off the shelf. Other diameters are anticipated for release in 2003. The Radicator features the latest micrograin technology to improve quality and increased tool life dramatically.
