Hello. My name is Rachel and I am an orthodontic assistant for Dr. Cummins. I enjoy being around people, especially when I know that I am able to help them enjoy their orthodontic experience and have fun at our practice. I like getting to know our patients and seeing the changes and transformations in their orthodontic care that gives them the confidence and smiles they deserve. I began working with Dr. Cummins in 1999, and he has been the best mentor. He is professional, caring and always strives to provide the best care to his patients. I feel that, as a practice, we stand out from other practices in this area. We work together as a team, we know how to have fun and share smiles, and we always strive to create a positive atmosphere for our patients.

I am originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, and have lived in Bellingham for over 15 years. While serving in the Navy, I was stationed at Sand Point, in Seattle, and I developed a great love for Pacific Northwest. After completing my certificate in orthodontics, I knew I wanted to return to this area so begin practicing orthodontics, settle down, and raise my family. My wife, Shari Cummins, MD, and I have three children â?? our son, Kyle, and twin daughters, Madeline and Meleri. We also have one dog, two cats, and a leopard gecko. When Iâ??m not at the practice, I enjoy spending time outdoors â?? camping, hiking and backpacking â?? as well as playing tennis, basketball, and relaxing with my family at our Lummi Island cabin. I enjoy being a part of the active Bellingham community, and for the past four years, I have been a coach of youth soccer.

Outside of the practice, I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband, Richard, and I have been married for over 30 years and we have four grown children and one very spoiled dog named Jasmine. We are also blessed to have one beautiful, smart, and fun granddaughter, named Alexa whom my husband and I love spending as much time with as possible. I am an avid reader, especially biographies and historical fiction. I have also been involved with Habitat for Humanity for over seven years, and have helped build many homes for those in need.
