The temptation here is to say that this is a matchup between two skilled athletes, but that misses the heart of the matter. Kakihara is on quite a roll, only having lost once in the last year, and he is all kinds of spunky. Yamazaki gets frustrated and pissed off at the upstart. ...AND they're skilled athletes. 10/13/10 Solar vs Negro Navarro, Ultimo Fiesta 7/19/10. Lucha libre maestros go at it, and they have a ton of tricks to treat us with. 10/12/10 Sekimoto & Y. Sasaki vs Okabayashi & Shinobu, BJPW 2/13/10. There was pretty much no way I wasn't going to like this. It isn't the sort of overwhelming match they could have had at Korakuen, but it's still a very solid effort. 10/7/10 Minoru Suzuki vs Mecha Mummy, MUSCLE 5/4/09, clipped (sorta). The explosive rematch with a shocking twist at the end. Ishikawa vs Tsubakichi, Battlarts 8/8/10. The usual Battlarts stiffness, plus several extra-nifty submission grabs by Ishikawa. 10/3/10 Kanemoto & Tanaka vs Takaiwa & Makabe, New Japan 1/4/01. Makabe was lots of fun in the junior division in late 2000. Did it continue into 2001? Yessir! Kojima vs Sasaki, New Japan 1/4/01. Upgrade. 9/28/10 Puroresu Clip Collection 7. A mix of cool moves, hard bumps, and random other things that I've collected and capped over the years. 9/27/10 Mutoh, Chono & Hashimoto vs Fujinami, Kimura & Koshinaka, New Japan 7/29/88. Upgrade & complete. KENTA vs Wataru Inoue, New Japan 8/29/02. Upgrade. 9/26/10 Suzuki vs Otsuka, New Japan 5/14/05. Upgrade. Kawada vs Ishikari, HUSTLE 12/25/05. Upgrade. 9/25/10 Suzuki vs Tamura, UWF 5/21/89. Tamura's debut, and it's clear how much talent he has. Suzuki might be young but he can do rookie punishment. Ultimo vs Ohtani, NJ 8/4/96. Upgrade. 9/21/10 Tanahashi vs Naito, New Japan G-1 Climax 8/8/10. Naito is young yet, and in his first year as a heavyweight he's already won the tag titles and made it into the G-1. However, he hasn't had a "here I am" type performance yet. This is it. He hangs with Tanahashi on the mat, and in the middle as they work each other over, and yet not long into the finish you still get a sense like Tanahashi is ready to go home any minute. Thus, the fans expect things to end quickly for Naito, yet he keeps fighting and giving Tanahashi trouble. At the start of the tour Naito got a fluke win over IWGP champ Makabe, but a win here would be far more meaningful. Just how far can he push one of New Japan's pillars? 9/20/10 Necro & Miyamoto vs Shuji Ishikawa & Hoshino, Big Japan 6/27/10. Ishikawa and Hoshino look like brothers but as near as I can tell are not. As you might expect this one is all about Necro.
