Originally from Colorado, I became a member of the Houston community in 1994. With a theoretical economics degree from Trinity University, I began my career with Morgan Stanley in 1995. In five years, I established wealth management relationships with well over one hundred accounts. I began to develop my method of maintaining a high level of engagement with each client as years pass. In 2000, I left the firm to offer my clients independent, fee-based investment management. This improved platform served us well in the down market which followed. I received my education as a Certified Financial Planner from Rice University. In 2004, I established a fee-only ® firm, Hoctor Financial Group, LLC, and created the Engaged Management Method™. The Engaged Management Method™ integrates financial planning with investment management. I believe if I manage assets for a family, I must engage them on all five major areas of financial planning: their personal background, net worth, cash flow (includes taxes), life goals, and risk management.
