Kate Fitzgerald, Principal of Deane Marketing + Communications, is an executive coach and marketing and business development strategist. Her clients include individual professionals, start-ups, regional and international businesses. Client industries include law, health care, market research, consulting, finance and psychotherapy. Kate brings over 15 years of marketing and business development experience to her coaching and consulting relationships and has led numerous initiatives focused on revenue generation, regional expansion, vertical marketing, practice expansion, lateral integration, as well as marketing department re-organizations. As a part of her practice, Kate works with leaders and teams to address ROI, managing cultural change, and motivating teams for optimal performance. Kate’s business philosophy is to “get involved.” She is an active member of the Asian American Manufacturing Association (AAMA), the Legal Marketing Association (LMA), Bay Area Chapter (President, 2001), and the LMA, National (Board of Directors, Chairperson of the Chapter Presidents Committee, 2002). Kate speaks and writes regularly on marketing and business development topics, including Minorities and Marketing (American Bar Association), Women and Business Development (Professional Women's Symposium) and Career Advancement (California Minority Counsel Program, April 30, 2009), among other organizations. She was a guest columnist for The Daily Journal’s weekly supplement, EXTRA. She also has written for LMA and AAMA newsletters and was a contributing book reviewer to the San Francisco Chronicle Sunday Book Review. Her ghost-written articles have appeared in numerous legal and non-legal publications, including Packaging Digest. Prior to working with law firms, Kate worked in the book publishing industry. To this day, Kate continues to pursue her interest in books and writing as an adjunct faculty at Berkeley City College, where she teaches composition and reading. Kate is a qualified administrator of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator. She is currently a certification candidate of the International Coach Federation and Neuro-Linguistic Programming Marin.
