Thank You for your request for more information about DecaHome Building Kits. The cost of the DecaHome "roof frame kit" is $12,000. If you also wish us to manufacture the more difficult to cut wall frame components, the cost is $2,000 additional for each 8 foot high perimeter wall kit (includes pre-cut components for all ten perimeter walls). All DecaHome roof kits allow for economical R-38 (two layers of R-19) fiberglass batt insulation in the ceilings. We manufacture one DecaHome roof size that can accomodate two building sizes.... a ten-sided home with exterior walls that are each about 12 feet wide, or a ten-sided home with exterior walls that are each about 14 feet wide. If you choose the smaller home, there will be a three foot overhang at the perimeter of the roof. If you choose the larger home, there will be no overhang at the perimeter of the roof. The diameters of these two building sizes are 38.5 feet and 45 feet. The area of a single floor with a 38.5 foot diameter Decahome is 1100 square feet. The area of a single floor with a 45 foot diameter Decahome is 1500 square feet. And, we can customize the perimeter walls with widths between these two sizes. Until nine years ago we were based in California. We now live in a 48 foot diameter dome home in Sullivan, Illinois that we built while running our business, Faze Change Produx. Prior to 1984, Wil drew custom home plans and did construction work for about 20 years. Wil is now 60 years old and still intent on making every building better than the one before. Wil has designed both the Econ-O-Dome and DecaHome building systems to solve problems that have traditionally been associated with both round home and conventional home buildings. DecaHome building frame kits are precision cut, stitched together with non-splitting screws, strapped with metal straps, and tensioned with twisted wire cables. Additionally, the DecaHome has solid 4x6 corner posts that help make a real sturdy building after being permanently braced and covered with plywood sheeting. The plywood wall sheeting is also used to hold the roof frame secure in high winds. Oversize sill plates secure both the frame and plywood sheeting via oversize bolts to the foundation. Larger lumber at the edges of every flat surface adds considerable strength to the DecaHome. The entire building becomes one sturdy unit tied via plywood, wire, and properly placed metal straps.
