Empyrean International designs and manufactures Acorn Home, Deck House and the dwell home by Empyrean brands. Deck House, Inc. was founded in 1959 by William Berkes, a pioneer in post and beam building systems. Acorn Structures was founded in 1947 by John Bemis, also a pioneer in the science of pre-engineering technology and custom design. In 1995, Deck House, Inc. acquired Acorn and the two companies consolidated their manufacturing and corporate facilities into a combined 150,000 square foot facility. In 2003, Deck House, Inc. was acquired by Wentworth Holdings and became Deck House, LLC. The company's principal shareholder, Patrick Gilrane enjoys a love of building, a lifelong involvement in the construction industry, and is actively involved in the Company's operations and direction. Deck House, LLC became Empyrean International, LLC in 2005. A third brand, the dwell homes by Empyrean is a result of a partnership with Dwell Magazine, and adds yet another dimension and style choice to the Acorn Homes and Deck House brands.
