A graduate of Yale University (A.B. summa cum laude 1973), he was a CPA and partner with Coopers & Lybrand specializing in taxation of mergers & acquisitions. In 1983 he joined Hyponex, a publically traded lawn and garden products company, as Vice President Finance and later served as President of Hyponex from 1985 to 1989. From 1989 to 1999 he was President of Waterfield Mortgage Company, Inc., the holding company for a privately held group of financial services companies. In 1999 Mr. Sherman led the purchase of Waterfield becoming the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and principal owner.
