Despite disappointing fourth-quarter results, Oracle, the multinational high tech company, will acquire MICROS Systems for $5.3 billion. MICROS manufactures and sells hardware and software and specializes in providing the technology, such as point-of-sale applications, for retail and hospitality companies. “We expect to help accelerate our customers’ ability to innovate and differentiate their businesses by utilizing Oracle’s technologies, cloud solutions, and scale,” said Peter Altabef, president and CEO of MICROS, in a statement.
