Description

Our two November programs are centered around Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 5, "The Reformation." The first performance takes us to the magnificent Episcopal Cathedral of St. John's and will present the German organ virtuoso Roland Stangier in his U.S. debut with Guilmant's grandiose Symphony No. 1 for Organ and Orchestra. The program will be modified at St. Elizabeth's Church on the Auraria campus celebrating the 800th birthday of Elizabeth of Hungary with a special presentation of music from Liszt's Oratorio, "The Legend of Saint Elizabeth." Our December holiday program will present some of the most popular classics, e.g., Rachmaninoff's "Paganini" Variations with Russian pianist Irina Moreland, as well as a special selection of music for Christmas and the holiday season. In January you can hear our fabulous orchestra members in their annual chamber music program, an eye and ear opening delight, as we have heard last year.
