The Detroit Research Institute is an educational and training organization for serving the continuing development needs of industrial and business personnel. The Institute was organized in 1958 by Dr. Arvid W. Jacobson, Chairman of Mathematics Department and Director of the Computing Laboratories, WSU. The Institute in the past offered short courses and seminars in various disciplines such as system engineering, mathematical models in biomedical field, computers, management, banking automation, reliability statistics, and as well as other educational activities calculated to promote industrial progress. These seminars have been offered with consistent success for more than 40 years, especially the Product Reliability courses, paricipants have come from major industries across the country and abroad.
