Come experience the DFW MRI difference! What happens during an MRI Procedure? The MRI exam is a simple and painless procedure. The MRI technologist or an assistant will help you lie down on the scanning bed. Once you are comfortable, usually with the help of some pillows and pads, you and the scanning bed will be moved into the magnet. During the exam there is nothing to do but lie quietly, breath normally and relax. Stereo music is provided so that you can relax and try to stay as still as possible. Movement will blur the image just like a photograph. You will hear a thumping sound while you are in the magnet. The thumps are normal mechanical noises that the imager makes while it is working. The technologist will be outside the magnet room and will be able to see and hear you at all times. The exam will take 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the information your doctor requires.
