Unfortunately John Radakovitz, the owner of Dimple Records, has been selling records (music) for over 30 years. In 1966 he worked in a retail & wholesale (rackjobber) combination store. Back then he would load up a 1965 Ford wagon stuffed with 3000 Monkee Lps and head for Reno Nevada to end up four days later Monkeeless and in Fresno, Ca. It was interesting back then, there were no real record stores, he sold music to drug stores and grocery stores. Before going into his own business, John worked for record companies like, Canterbury records, Pic-a-tune (rack), and Musical Isle (United Artist). Around the end of the rackjobbing era in 1974, John opened his first retail store in combination with a small one stop.So thousands of mono LPs, 4 tracks, 8 tracks, 45s, etc later, here we are with Dimple Records. What is a Dimple Record store? Well, we don't have a model store. The main store is 14,000sq ft, ten thousand for retail, and the rest, for art, offices, storage etc. Then we've got a 6,300sq ft, a 5,300sq ft, and the fourth is 3,300sq ft. So you can see, we're all over the board.The main store has a 30 ft ceiling with a working 150 ft motorized trolley, that goes back and forth. You'll find a wheelchair and a motorcycle converted into airplanes, hanging by cables, each with pilots. Aside from the roulette wheels, the mirrors that distort your figure, it's our product mix and expert staff that keep the customers warm and fuzzy. We virtually hold hands and stroll the customers over to their requested sections. We dare the customer to try and stump us, if it is not in our computers, someone in our 90 person staff will hit the jackpot. John has even been musically challenged while on vacation in his RV at Yosemite, when his cell phone had a request for Spike Jones. Of course, only John would know this one.
