Click to read a special CRS Report about the support for the needs of the people of Haiti. The Catholic community in the United States is responding immediately to the people of Haiti. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and was still recovering from deadly 2008 hurricanes when the quake struck. It is difficult to absorb the misery and devastation they are experiencing at this moment. Our prayers and our response are critical to the alleviation of their suffering and for their long-term recovery. The diocese is accepting donations to assist Catholic Relief Services (CRS) in short-term and long-term relief and recovery efforts. Donations should be made payable to the Diocese of Saginaw - Haiti Disaster Relief and mailed to: Haiti Disaster Relief, Diocese of Saginaw, 5800 Weiss Street, Saginaw, MI 48603. Catholic Relief Services (CRS), the official international humanitarian agency of the U.S. Catholic Church, is mounting a major emergency response to this disaster and has made an initial commitment of 5 million dollars for immediate use in the relief effort.
