Description

The Center is dedicated to strengthening women and families by eliminating violence and abuse through education, intervention, advocacy, and community collaboration. For the last four decades of its 117 year history of personal empowerment and family services for the community, The Center has dedicated its mission to end domestic and sexual violence. Through its collaborative continuum of care, it provides critical services for primary and secondary victims. It teaches prevention education, trains professionals, and raises organizational consciousness on the community and legislative levels in order to create social change to end this violence. It annually serves approximately 5,000 victims and educates, trains, and outreaches to nearly 8,500 individuals.

Founded in 1980, the Connecticut Credit Union Charitable Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization consisting of a voluntary board of trustees who represent Connecticut credit unions through charitable giving. The Foundation primarily advocates "Feeding the Needy" throughout Connecticut. During challenging economic conditions, supplies at Connecticut food pantries are tenuous at best, often fluctuating dangerously low, while food is needed throughout the year for adults and children. In addition, the Foundation recognizes the needs of others who are less fortunate and donates a portion of its fundraising proceeds to local charities as well.
