Dog's Best Friend Training was founded by Patricia McConnell, Ph.D., known worldwide as a leading expert on animal behavior. We have over 20 years of experience helping dogs and their owners. All of our dog training experts combine a love of animals with scientific knowledge, extensive training, and years of experience working with dogs. Dog’s Best Friend Training is one of the few programs in the country to combine ethology and psychology in the development of humane and effective treatment plans for dog training and dog behavior problems.

In despair I called Dog's Best Friend and they have indeed proven to be Ben's best friend…and mine! Ben attended their puppy class which was excellent with lots of individual attention and activities that enabled us to learn by doing. But I also signed on for a consultant and that has proven to be the key for helping Ben. Over the past six months, Chelse, our consultant, has worked with both of us (behavior modification is as much about the owner as the dog!) on coming up with strategies to help Ben overcome his fears, manage his arousal, and learn good doggy manners.

Dog's Best Friend Training, founded in 1988 by Patricia McConnell, Ph.D., is dedicated to enriching the lives of dogs and their owners through dog training using positive reinforcement-based techniques. Our dog training classes help owners understand and humanely influence their dogs' behavior. We conduct small group obedience dog training classes at multiple locations in Madison, WI as well as Fitchburg, McFarland, Sun Prairie, and Middleton. We also offer dog agility classes and private behavior consultations, and provide pet sitting and dog walking services.

We are proud of the help and training we've provided for dogs and their owners through the years, and appreciate the opportunity to provide state-of-the-art dog training solutions to animal lovers in the Madison area and throughout the country.
