She received Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude Honors. Dr. Lewis trained in Internal Medicine at The University of Chicago Medical Center, one of the most competitive programs in the United States. She was then accepted to the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars program. This prestigious program provides fully funded opportunity for roughly 35 physicians per year to conduct health policy research. The present Surgeon General was a RWJ clinical scholar from UCLA. Dr. Lewis completed her graduate work and Clinical Scholars work at RAND and UCLA where she also received her PhD in Public Health. While working for RAND, an international research center, she published her work in a host of publications, including The New England Journal of Medicine. Dr. Lewis also has a certificate to teach “evidence based” medicine. Dr. Lewis’ work has lead to direct changes in California state legislation. As a result of this, the Federal Medicare program has recently asked that she advise on how to revise legislation nationwide as relates to prescription drug coverage and senior citizens. Also Dr. Lewis has recently been asked to join the Wyoming Healthcare Commission to help bring electronic health records to Wyoming. D.O. vs. M.D. Dr. Lewis is trained as an Osteopathic physician. Therefore, her credentials read, D.O. Physicians who receive Allopathic training are referred to as MD’s. The information taught to DO’s and MD’s is the same. However, in their education, Osteopathic physicians are specifically trained to look at the human body as a whole unit, working from the spine out. Dr. Lewis has passed both the Allopathic AND Osteopathic medical licensing Boards. Also, Dr. Lewis is “Board Certified” by The American Board of Internal Medicine. Physicians who are not Board Certified are permitted to practice medicine, but have either not taken or not passed the boards in their respective specialty. Wyoming Medical Group was founded by Dr. Lewis to allow her to provide the highest quality of care possible. It also keeps her skill-set sharp while consulting to the State of Wyoming and the Federal Government in an effort to reform our healthcare system.
