The Doris Mae IV was built in 1975 in Paterson, Louisiana by Gulf Craft Shipyard. I've added a few pictures of the boat under construction. In 1988 we took the DM IV back to Gulf Craft for an overhaul. We had the boat completely torn down from mast to keel. Our engines were taken out of the boat and trucked to Morgan City for a complete rebuild. The whole operation - start to finish took a little over 3 months. The bill for the job was about the same as we originally paid for the boat!!! In 1998 we took Her back to Gulf Craft again this time to be repowered. We chose an Italian diesel engine called Isotta Fraschini. We also replaced our generators with 2 -28 KW Iveco diesels. Originally we had 3 Detroit 12- 71TI's (500 hp each) which gave use a top speed of 22 knots (24.75 m.p.h.). The 3 new Isotta engines (950 hp each) gave us a top speed of 29 knots (32.6 m.p.h.). I know of no other party boat that could match that speed!
