In 2000, the band shell at the State Fair of Texas was disassembled and refurbished back to its original 1936 glory. Downey Signs & Lighting was called upon to showcase our expertise by installing the new lighting for the project. By utilizing old world glass along with modern computerized technology, we were able to create hundreds of different shades of color. Grand Prairie's Uptown Theater opened in April1950 as a first run movie theater and was considered at the time to be state of the art. After years of neglect, the city purchased the theater in 2005 and began to make plans to restore the historic landmark to its original luster. Downey Signs was proud to have been involved with this history making process. We restored the iconic blade sign to its original state.Whether you need a simple "OPEN" sign or a complex neon project where the only limitation is your imagination, call Downey Signs and Lighting. Even with new technology such as LED's, neon is still the brightest and most affordable way to draw attention to you business. In 2009 Downey Signs was proud to be part of the new $18.5 million Main Street Garden Park. The 1.7 acre park is unlike anything the city of Dallas has ever seen. We were chosen to refurbish the circa 1960's sign to original condition. With chasing neon border and flashing yellow lights the sign is truly a reminder of how a landmark from our past can blend with our new modern urban lifestyle.
