A native of Florida, Dr. Mackay has practiced vascular surgery in the Bay area since 1993. He is a specialist in the field of Phlebology, the science of veins and their diseases. As a highly regarded physician and leader in Phlebology, Dr. Mackay successfully treats varicose and spider veins with a combination of minimally invasive and micro-surgical procedures, including sclerotherapy, micro-incisional phlebectomy and endovenous therapies. Dr. Mackay was the first physician in the state of Florida to offer VNUS Closure, and the first in the Bay area to offer Endovenous Laser Treatment to compliment other effective and safe treatments. Dr. Mackay continuously evaluates emerging technologies, selecting those that will most benefit his patients. Dr. Mackay is on staff at Largo Medical Center and is an affiliate staff member at Morton Plant Mease Hospitals. He has been the guest speaker at numerous community events and provides training in vein treatment procedures to physicians throughout the US and internationally. Dr. Mackay is the Co-Director of the International Vein Congress, held annually in Miami, Florida. The IVC is attended by over 500 physicians observing cases.
