Description
Clive Segil is an internationally renowned orthopedic surgeon with 30 years of experience in the management of musculoskeletal disorders – a healer not just a physician/surgeon, with creative approaches to patient problems. Dr. Segil sees the patient as a “whole person” not only a “disease,” and he places great emphasis on the mind-body connection, applying the concept of what is best for the patient. This means that he uses treatments that result in a cure, at best, and at very least, a marked improvement in their well-being. Dr. Segil was educated and trained in South Africa. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, Scotland. He is a pioneer in hip replacement surgery learning from the master, the late Sir John Charnley in England. He has lived and worked as a visiting professor in Canada, where he was a spine surgery expert. In the United Kingdom he worked as a general surgeon prior to becoming an orthopedic surgeon. He lived in Israel where he volunteered and worked at the Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem after the Six Day War and again when he was called upon to take over a military hospital near the Golan Heights. He has worked in China as a visiting professor to a variety of cities and in Japan where he developed and ran a multi-specialty faculty for education of new Japanese physician graduates. Dr. Segil is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, International College of Surgeons, Western and Californian Orthopedic Associations, North American Spine Society and past chairman of the American Back Society Annual Conference. For the past 25 years he has been involved in research and teaching. He is a past assistant clinical professor of orthopedics at the University of Southern California School of Medicine and as a past Clinical Chief of Orthopedics at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He continues as a leading orthopedic surgeon in private practice in Los Angeles, California. His community involvement has included Board Member of the Arthritis Foundation and Board Member of Project Support for Spinal Cord Injury. He is the co-founder and Vice-president of the Spine Network of California. He is an accomplished horseman and gardener. Dr. Segil was named as one of LA's best Orthopedic Surgeons in the September 1991 issue of Los Angeles magazine. AGREED MEDICAL EXAMINER In the Workers Compensation Arena, Dr Segil has for almost 30 years provided unbiased, detailed rateable and credible reports concerning injured workers. He has given an honest opinion as to their condition, causation, prognosis disability and apportionment in a precise, organised and timely manner.
