About The Firm On February 14, 1989, Dave Drake, Rick Narup and Randy Mead hung out their first shingle as Drake, Narup & Mead. Former members of a prior firm, the trio had no clients, but had a dream of what the future could be. They could provide high-quality legal services without all the cost, structure and bureaucracy of a top-heavy, big law firm. Within two weeks, Drake, Narup & Mead was representing the insureds of the nation's biggest general lines carrier and the insureds of the State's principle professional liability insurer. The firm prospered and in 1991 left its rented quarters on MacArthur Boulevard in favor of its own building at 107 East Allen Street. Business grew and the time came to hire lawyers. A third generation lawyer, Kirk Laudeman, late of the State's Attorneys office where he was a felony prosecutor, joined Drake, Narup & Mead in 1995, becoming a shareholder in 2000. New Yorker Paulette Dove, with her knack for special investigatory work, became associated with the firm in 1997 and a shareholder in 2002. Chris Biswell was added to the Drake, Narup & Mead family in 2001 and immediately launched into a diverse practice including civil rights defense, products liability litigation, medical malpractice, and commercial litigation. Steve Ward joined the firm in 2002, bringing not only 20 years experience in defending civil cases but also that long-missing piece of the puzzle: a workers compensation practice.Today, Drake, Narup & Mead is still a small firm with a big firm impact, but without the big firm bill. They are poised to handle everything from subrogation to workers comp to the most intricate professional liability matter. Over the last 15 years Drake, Narup & Mead, has defended individuals, insurers, doctors, nurses, engineers, executives, and employers.
