Description

Drew CDC is dedicated to provide culturally competent sensitive services to all families. Helping to create a positive environment which is safe, promote emotional, physical health and education. The corporation has firmly believed that the family must play a critical role in the support of at risk children and thus focus on educating families and parents and then allowing them to become the teachers and role models for their children.

The Education Division offers services that are structured to provide culturally sensitive, developmentally appropriate curricular activities for children and their families. Our philosophy is based on the assumptions that parents are the primary teachers, that parental support in educational programs is essential, that a team approach provides both parents and teachers collective exchange, and that the team must advocate on behalf of children. We are aware that in order to reach our goals we must work cooperatively with parents, sharing in our mutual interest in the child.

The Child Abuse Treatment Program utilizes a comprehensive approach to provide services that emphasize the treatment of children and families victimized by issues of substance abuse, domestic violence, child abuse and teenage pregnancy. Specific services shall include intake, agency and offsite counseling (individual, group, family), parent education and support groups (offered in Spanish and English), in-home counseling, parenting skills instruction, anger management, 24 hour phone access and case management.

Licensed Child Care Homes are licensed by the State of California to provide care for up to 8 children or up to 14 children, depending on the license size. As a part of the licensing requirement, care staff and any adult living in the home are required to submit fingerprints and criminal background checks. Also, training in pediatric Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, and Health and Safety courses must be completed.

Drew CDC will be working with parents and child care providers to provide them with tools necessary to make healthy eating and physical activity a usual and fun activity.
