Saturday, January 30, 7:30 PM, D-SQUARED kicks off the first of the “ARIZONA MUSIC ALL FOLKED UP” series in the BLUE ROSE THEATER located at the Sharlot Hall Museum , 415 West Gurley Street, Prescott, Arizona. ADMISSION is $14 General Public, $12 Members. Tickets may be purchased at the door or by calling 928-445-3122. We hope the New Year finds you warm and well. We are looking forward to spending some long overdue time with Kyle Harris in the recording studio this year so, to get us in playing shape, we are booked as the first act in the Sharlot Hall Museum’s “ARIZONA MUSIC ALL FOLKED UP” series. These once-a-month shows on the last Saturday of each month from January to July feature some of the most popular acts from the last Folk Festival including Hans Olson, Three-Legged Dog, and the Close Enough String Band. Saturday, December 5, 7:00 PM, D-Squared will have their annual Winter’s Eve concert at the Big Bug Station, Central and Main Sts., in downtown Mayer, AZ. This is our favorite venue, and singing in the winter season in this wonderful hall — with all our friends — is something we look forward to. We will have a Christmas Cookie Contest once again. Bring in a plate-full from your favorite family recipe and we’ll all vote on our MOST favorite. Prizes and silliness will ensue. In light of the difficult economic times, we’re only asking a $10 donation for an evening of music, goodies and great company. September 5-7, Once again we’ve been asked to be the musical entertainment for a Centennial Canoe trip down the Gunnison River in Colorado! Plenty of time to book your place in the adventure. Beautiful red rock cliffs surround the river, easy rapids for beginners and a wonderful team of river runners to make the experience memorable….and of course, the music! Too fun. Saturday, May 23 from 1:00 – 5:00 PM, come join us for an afternoon of Arizona culture on an honest to goodness small family farm at Granite Creek Vineyard and Winery in Chino Valley. There is no charge for admission, we encourage you to purchase products to help support local agriculture. For further information contact (928) 636-2003 or email gcvineyards@cableone.net. Saturday, February 28, D-Squared will perform in Sharlot Hall’s “Defining Folk Music series which includes a two-hour daytime workshop devoted to discussion and demonstration of the folk process The workshop is intended as a dialog between the artist and the attendees exploring how folk music is created and what forces shape it’s form and content. Have you ever wondered what inspired a particular song, where the melody came from, how the song was actually written? This is a rare opportunity to experience the music from inside the artist’s perspective and ask questions. The “Defining Folk Music” matinee and evening performances will differ from the usual ’song and stage patter’ format. We will pick songs from our catalog that we think exemplify important aspects of folk music as well as play a few old songs that directly influenced us. Introductions will be pertinent to the song’s creation and there will be a question and answer session during the concert. Don will be closely monitored by Deb in his attempts to define or explain anything in order to keep the shows on time. The matinee and evening performances are at 2 PM and 7:30 PM on Strong>Saturday, February 28 in the Blue Rose Theater at the Sharlot Hall Museum , 415 West Gurley Street, Prescott. Tickets for the shows are $14 General Public, $12 Members, $8 Group Rate (10 or more). The workshop will be from 10 AM to 12 PM on Saturday, February 28 in the Blue Rose Theater and tickets are $25.
