Description

Equipment manufactures claim to have the ultimate answer to all IAQ problems and cleaning processes. Many will have you believe that by purchasing their equipment, you have qualified yourself as an IAQ specialist and are ready to hit the ground running. We take all manufacturer's claims in stride, throw out the sales pitch, and see how they stand up against their competitors in all aspects of performance. It's interesting that the winners are rarely the most heavily advertised or the biggest names.

Follow manufacturer's instructions when using any type of humidifier Experts differ on the benefits of using humidifiers. If you do use a portable humidifier (approximately 1 to 2 gallon tanks), be sure to empty its tank every day and refill with distilled or demineralized water, or even fresh tap water if the other types of water are unavailable For larger portable humidifiers, change the water as recommended by the manufacturer. Unplug the appliance before cleaning.

The Contractor shall assure that its employees have received the necessary training, medical surveillance programs, safety equipment, individual health protection measures, and manufacturer's product and material safety data sheets required for the work described by this Contract Document 3.10. The term "antimicrobial coating product" used in the following specifications refers to an antimicrobial formulation developed, tested and registered for HVAC ductwork and air handler applications.

Contractor must have a minimum of five years experience in commercial ductwork decontamination. Additionally, the Contractor must have experience with air sampling techniques as outlined in this Scope of Work on a minimum facility of 75,000 square feet. This project must have been cleaned with a 4,000 to 6,000 + CFM HEPA vacuum and an application of an antimicrobial coating product to the duct system.

The customer/contractor relationship is the master key in conducting a well-run project. The basic element needed to begin this process is a proper communication interchange. To establish this strong link, an HVAC System Hygiene contractor needs to provide the occupants of the facility with a clear understanding that the project will be managed properly.
