Description

The link between natural gas exploration and production and end-use customers is known as the midstream segment of the natural gas industry. Duke Energy Field Services (DEFS), headquartered in Denver, Colorado, leads the midstream segment as one of the nation's largest natural gas gatherers, the largest natural gas liquids (NGLs) producer and one of the largest NGL marketers. DEFS is a 50-50 joint venture between Duke Energy and ConocoPhillips.We gather raw natural gas through 56,000 miles of gathering pipe in six of the major U.S. natural gas regions. The gas is processed at 54 owned or operated plants.Through our processing operations, we separate NGLs from the raw natural gas and "fractionate" the liquids into their individual ethane, propane, butane and natural gasoline components. DEFS owns or operates 11 fractionating facilities.
