In 1928, W. M. Durham, Sr., started Durham Pecan Company. Mr. Durham's goal was to provide delicious shelled pecans and other nuts of the highest quality. Durham Pecan Company is family-owned and continues to uphold customer satisfaction as its top priority.Durham Pecan Company makes its home in Comanche, Texas. Snugly tucked among the hills of Central Texas, the small community of Comanche takes its name from the Comanche Indians of the Southwest Plains. Pecans were known to be a major part of the Comanche diet. Comanche County is home to 10,000 acres of native pecan trees. In addition, 38 million pounds of peanuts are shelled there annually. Each year, Durham Pecan Company shells approximately five million pounds of pecans and roasts over two million pounds of nuts.
