Description

Raymond Ross is the founder and Chief Software Architect of E-JCL Software and the designer/developer of PowerJCL ® and the JCLScript programming language. Mr. Ross was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and attended Murrell Dobbins high school where, at 6'5" tall, he played on the varsity basketball team in Philadelphia's highly competitive public basketball league. Mr. Ross subsequently attended Drexel University and graduated with a Bachelor of Sciences degree with a double major in Computer Sciences and Mathematics. During Mr. Ross' matriculation at Drexel, the university initiated its computer sciences curriculum and Mr. Ross was among the initial small group of students to complete its inaugural computer sciences curriculum. While at Drexel, Mr. Ross worked part-time as a consultant in Drexel's academic computing center providing technical assistance to Drexel's academic community, including professors and other students. Mr. Ross also organized and formed Drexel's student chess team and played "1st board", including being undefeated during a national intercollegiate chess team tournament held at Madison Square Garden in New York. After graduating from Drexel, Mr. Ross passed the examinations and other requirements to attain the Certificate in Data Processing (CDP) from the Institute for Certification of Computer Professionals (ICCP). During Mr. Ross' professional career in the information technology sector, he has worked extensively in a variety of technology positions at companies ( Sun Company , IBM Corp. , The Vanguard Group, Incorporated ) using IBM's large system hardware and software technology offerings. Mr. Ross' experiences in this area span the range from computer programmer to data base administrator to consultant to technical leader to architect to various others. Mr. Ross has traveled from Sun Company's oil refineries to IBM's customers in the Middle East working on numerous large-system applications. While at IBM, Mr. Ross was the technical leader for one of IBM's largest application development projects worldwide and also received an IBM award for the highest customer billable attainment in his region. While at Vanguard, Mr. Ross participated in the initial feasibility and evaluation studies and was also the senior technical leader for Vanguard's largest, mission critical, multi-year Y2K project. While at Vanguard, Mr. Ross was also the technical leader on numerous other mission critical projects and played an instrumental role in the success of several other highly visible projects and efforts while working in Vanguard's Information Technology division (having 2800+ employees). Although Mr. Ross was not part of Vanguard's official on-call support rotation, he was frequently and repeatedly called upon by various I.T. departments to informally assist with the resolution of I.T. production problems around the clock. By way of illustration, Mr. Ross' written Y2K feedback evaluation stated: "Without a doubt, Raymond Ross had the greatest single technical impact on the entire Y2K project, including areas outside the Implementation Groups.
