At just nine years old, Jack founded Catherine’s Peace Team, a group of young children and adults dedicated to raising money for the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary and to promoting peace and kindness in local communities. Catherine, a lover of animals, was Jack’s cousin and, a victim of the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Ct., in December 2012. Jack created this organization as a way to honor Catherine’s memory. Since its inception, Jack and his friends have raised more than $100,000 for the sanctuary, through community events, dances and bake sales.

Flower City Habitat for Humanity, founded in 1984, is a non-denominational Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating substandard and poverty housing in Rochester, N.Y. Since 1984, FCHH has built or renovated over 200 homes, and is one of the largest Habitat affiliates in the northeastern U.S. Visit: www.rochesterhabitat.org .

In 2011, after 20 years of service, John retired as a U.S. Bankruptcy judge. His retirement has enabled John to devote himself full-time to his passion: community service. John serves as a volunteer and educator through the Credit Abuse Resistance Education (CARE) program, which he founded in 2002. CARE is a financial literacy education outreach program that provides high school and college students with the knowledge and tools to lead a financially responsible and debt-free life.
