At just nine years old, Jack founded Catherine’s Peace Team, a group of young children and adults dedicated to raising money for the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary and to promoting peace and kindness in local communities. Catherine, a lover of animals, was Jack’s cousin and, a victim of the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Ct., in December 2012. Jack created this organization as a way to honor Catherine’s memory. Since its inception, Jack and his friends have raised more than $100,000 for the sanctuary, through community events, dances and bake sales.
Flower City Habitat for Humanity, founded in 1984, is a non-denominational Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating substandard and poverty housing in Rochester, N.Y. In 2011, after 20 years of service, John retired as a U.S. Bankruptcy judge. His retirement has enabled John to devote himself full-time to his passion: community service. John serves as a volunteer and educator through the Credit Abuse Resistance Education (CARE) program, which he founded in 2002. CARE is a financial literacy education outreach program that provides high school and college students with the knowledge and tools to lead a financially responsible and debt-free life.
