E&B Insurance Agency is the next chapter of an agency whose roots in the Eastern Panhandle reach all the way back to 1869. What began as a handful of local insurance offices on the streets of Martinsburg grew, merged, and endured through more than a century of change.

In 1957, two of those offices — the J. Roy Nadenbousch Insurance Agency and the Clyde E. Smith Insurance Agency, both founded in Martinsburg in the early 1900s — joined together to form Smith-Nadenbousch Insurance. Over the decades the agency opened offices in Charles Town and Berkeley Springs and welcomed other long-standing local agencies into the fold, including one tracing its lineage to the Dawson Insurance Agency of 1869.
