Eastern Shore Chapel

Description

Holy Cross Anglican School in San Pedro Belize was founded in 2006 to provide an education to over 425 of the islands poorest children. Before the school was founded, many of these children simply roamed the beaches, sold jewelry to tourists and had little hope of a brighter future. Eastern Shore Chapel has been involved with the school for the last several years. Each summer a team of teens and adults visits to help with construction, Vacation Bible School, tutoring, and general help and support. Another mission trip is being planned for the summer of 2014.

Eastern Shore Chapel has been going to work at Belize for over 7 years and we have a wonderful reputation as a hardworking group. I was speaking to Lydia Brown the volunteer coordinator and she told me that Mr. Freddie (the man who does everything at the school) was looking forward to us being there as ESC has always been one of the elite volunteer groups. So we should all be proud of the work we have done in the past and the work we will do this year.

Eastern Shore Chapel has a wide variety of ministries to serve a wide variety of people and causes. We minister to our community and the world through our Outreach Committee. Parishioners are encouraged to follow Christ's mandate to "Feed my sheep" by participating in the Chapel Pantry and preparing meals for the Judeo-Christian Outreach Center and the Canterbury Center at ODU. Many of our members are active in Kairos Prison Ministry, chaplaincy programs and BEACH partnership (Bringing an End to All City Homelessness). We have established mission teams that make frequent visits to Belize and Freeman, VA. Through the Winter Shelter program, we also provide food and shelter for the homeless for a week during the winter. We minister to those in our parish through Pastoral Care programs. These include healing ministry, visitation programs, Stephen Ministry and Parish Friends which cares for families in times of bereavement. Eastern Shore Chapel has a Day School for children 2 1/2 through 5 years old. We hope that all members of Eastern Shore Chapel find the ministry they need to receive from AND the ministry they have a calling to support.
